A Much Improved Whaddon Road

It was only the Cobblers second visit to Whaddon Road, but there were some changes for the better since the last time.

Cobblers fans were still housed in the dreadful terrace behind the goal on Whaddon Road itself. To one side of the goal is an open terrace and the other side is a sort of bus stop style covered terrace.

The option of seating was available though on the side of the pitch, offering a much better view. After my previous visit, remembering the terrible view, I opted for the seats in the so called In2Print Stand. The view was excellent from the back row and the home fans the other side of the seggregation were friendly, exchanging friendly banter.

The home end behind the goal had been covered since my last visit and the small non league style main stand opposite remained the same.

All in all the ground had a friendly character, with a traditional feel. I can't comment on the food as I ate in a town centre pub called Restoration. Rumour has it that Cheltenham have proposed to redevlop further but no date has been set.

View rating - 10/10 although that only goes for seats
Atmosphere - 8/10 the imporatnce of the game produced a good crowd of just under 5000 (850 Cobblers)
Food - Didn't try but it smelt nice
Toilets - 10/10 very posh in the stand
Programme - 9/10 A good read priced at £2.50

Cost £13 to stand and £15 to sit
