2002 has been an almost perfect start for everyone at Northampton Town with the first game of the year being a 1-1 draw at the hands of Championship hopefulls Stoke City. It was the Cobblers impressive performance that stopped the Potters from going top of the 2nd Division.

Another tough side Bristol City were the second top side for the Cobblers who were in good spirits after their turn in fortunes. An impressive performance saw Forreseter net twice in a minute and take a 2-0 lead into the second half. That de ja vue feeling returned as Bristol came back from a sloppy piece of defending but the Cobblers kept their cool and James hunt sealed a well deserved win away from home.

The Cobblers will need to keep up the pressure on the other relegation strugglers who are all slipping up at present and give a real battle for 2nd division survival. Another 30 points from 19 games will be essential to ensure the Town break away from the relegation zone.
