An Historic Day For Northampton Town Football Club

Chairman David Cardoza is set to sell his entire stake in the club after signing a Heads of Terms agreement with the interested party.

"We've been looking for investment for a while, more on a 50-50 sale - but the buyers have said they want to take control of everything," said Cardoza, speaking to BBC Radio Northampton.

"It's a bit out of the blue, but it's unquestionably in the best interests for everyone to get this deal done."

Quoted on the official NTFC website, Cardoza felt that the move was 'positive' for the club and is a 'major investment' in both the Cobblers and the wider area of Northampton with the prospective new owners keen to move on with the development of the land around Sixfields.

Although the deal is not yet done it does look set to end Cardoza's involvement with the club and he described the last year as the 'worst of his life' due to the stalled redevelopment of Sixfields.

But on the pitch, he will leave Town in good shape having been justified in the decision to bring in Chris Wilder as manager and having once again backed his boss in the transfer market.
