The Trinidad & Tobago man quit football after leaving Sunderland but reports have surfaced suggesting he was training with the Imps, who face Northampton at Sincil Bank on 27 March.

City manager Chris Sutton told BBC Lincolnshire: "It's absolute nonsense.

"We could talk hypothetically about anyone really, Diego Maradona coming or whoever.

"It's nonsense. He was a great player but he's retired and that's that."
