Busy Night In League Two

Amid calls for the Football League season to be extended in the wake of a raft of recent postponements the most important game from a Northampton point of view takes place in Lancashire.

Accrington Stanley and Bury, currently seven and six points ahead of the Cobblers respectively in the battle to avoid relegation out of the Football League, face each other.

Saturday's Sixfields opponents Hartlepool, meanwhile, face a long trip to Southend United looking to close the gap on their hosts who occupy the final play-off spot at present.

***Update*** A goalless draw at Accrington moves both them and Bury a point further away from the relegation zone. Stanley are now eight ahead of Northampton having played the same number of games, Bury are seven points better off but with a game in hand.
