Cobblers appoint Flowers as coach.

Northampton Town have appointed former England international Tim Flowers as goalkeeping coach on a part time basis. The 43-year-old ex-Southampton, Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City stopper replaces Simon Brown who joined Cambridge United last week as a player.

"I am delighted to be able to welcome Tim to the staff," said Cobblers boss Ian Sampson.

"Not only has Tim got experience of playing at the very highest level, he has got a good record of coaching."

Sampson added: "We have a number of young, promising keepers at the club at the moment and they can only benefit from working with Tim."

Flowers is also helping out Cheltenham Town and Kidderminster Harriers on a part-time basis.

He began his playing days at Southampton as Peter Shilton's understudy and won the Premier League title with Blackburn in 1995, before moving to Leicester City.
