Cobblers Are Safe

With Notts County and Bury both losing today the Cobblers now can't be caught ensuring next Saturday's claret day III will be a happy occasion whatever the result. Unfortunately for Notts County however the result at Bournemouth leaves the Magpies survival hopes to be decided on the final day of the season. Bury are still able to match County on points too, but with a much inferior goal difference it is certain that Bury are now relegated.

Bottom of division 2:

24 Cambridge    45 7  7 9  29 34 0  5 17 16 57 -46 33

At the top end of the table it is confirmed that Brighton are crowned champions 2 seasons on the trot, so congratulations to them. Reading, Brentford and Cardiff are now in a 3 way battle for an automatic promotion place with Cardiff only having a slim chance due to goal difference. Stoke and Huddersfield are confirmed as the other 2 teams to be involved in the play off places. Bristol City's 5-1 defeat to Blackpool ensures they are unable to reach a play off spot.
