Cobblers Confirm Charlton Athletic Approach

Last updated : 09 May 2016 By County Ground

Speculation on Monday morning about the future of Northampton Town's title-winning boss has led to the Cobblers issuing a statement about the current situation.

Posted on the official NTFC website it reads: 'Northampton Town Football Club can confirm that this morning the club received an official approach from Charlton Athletic Football Club for the services of Manager Chris Wilder and Assistant Manager Alan Knill.

Due to release clauses in their existing contracts, the club have regrettably given permission for talks to take place.'

Reading further into what both Chris Wilder and chairman Kelvin Thomas have been quoted as saying, it looks to be a case of when and not if that the move is made.

How quickly football can change, just one day after Wilder and his team enjoyed their open-top bus ride through the streets of Northampton to celebrate their League Two success.
