Cobblers enjoy FA Cup victory

By a quirk of the fixtures Northampton now face Walsall at Sixfields on consecutive Saturdays. This weekend it's a league fixture before the Cup game on Saturday week.

Boss Stuart Gray thought his team should have scored more goals.

"The only thing that was disappointing was the fact we didn't score more goals and allow ourselves a more comfortable final 10 minutes.

"First and foremost we had to get through the tie into the next round and I was pleased with our performance. Even when we missed chance after chance after chance we saw it out to the final whistle.

"We had had a couple of situations this season against Leyton Orient and Tranmere where we've lost two-goal leads, so I kept reminding the players about that at half-time.

"And after our last match here against Bristol Rovers it was important we put that performance behind us."
