Cobblers remain consistently inconsistent

While there is no doubt that the Football League's bottom club were given a dose of confidence by the presence of Edgar Davids in their ranks that alone does not account for the hammering dished out to Town on Friday night.

"We have made a team at the bottom, who haven't won a game, look like superstars and they are not,” said Boothroyd, who apologised to the travelling support who had made the trip to North London.

While of the belief that his side have made 'massive steps' since last season, the manager knows that more is needed if a play-off push is to be maintained.

“Until we make better decisions in possession and until we upset the opponent on a regular basis then we are going to keep winning three and then get beaten."

***Update***The Cobblers, who host Bradford City in the league on Tuesday night have been drawn against the same opponents in the FA Cup with the tie taking place at Sixfields on the weekend of 3 and 4 November.
