Three games and three clean sheets now for the Cobblers and Chris Wilder's side again showed sharpness in attack as Jason Taylor, Ryan Cresswell and Marc Richards all netted in a 3-0 win at Sixfields.
Midweek goalscorers Sam Hoskins and Dominic Calvert-Lewin started on the substitute's bench as did last weekend's matchwinner John-Joe O'Toole.
That shows the options available to Wilder but the manager may be most pleased by the strength in defence that Northampton have shown so far in the fledgling season given the attention he paid to that area in his early summer recruitment.
