Central defender Doig suffered a groin injury in the first half of the 2-0 midweek Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat at Luton and is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Academy product Liam Dolman is set for his first league start of the season alongside Mark Hughes - who will take over as skipper - while manager Stuart Gray could make as many as four further changes for the return to league action.

Youth-team captain Danny May, 17-year-old winger Alex Dyer and Colin Larkin were all given starts at Kenilworth Road but should make way for Jason Crowe, Ian Henderson and Andy Kirk respectively.

Bristol City loanee Alex Russell impressed in his first start and will vie with Joe Burnell for the right to partner Bradley Johnson in the centre of midfield as Gray reverts to 4-4-2 against the highly-fancied Yorkshire side.

Left-back Danny Jackman and midfielder Giles Coke both remain at least a fortnight away from a return from knee ligament injuries.
