Crichton appointed keeper coach

Northampton Town have appointed the former Grimsby Town and Burnley stopper Paul Crichton as goalkeeping coach at the Sixfields Stadium.The 41-year-old made more than 500 appearances in his playing career and has coached at Cambridge United, Brighton & Hove Albion and Norwich.

Cobblers boss Ian Sampson told the club's website: "Paul has a lot of experience as a player.

"He did a good job as a coach at both Brighton and Norwich."

Crichton began his playing career at Nottingham Forest and also played for Peterborough United, Doncaster Rovers and West Bromwich Albion.

"I know the keepers we have are looking forward to working with him," added Sampson.

"They will be able to tap into his experience and knowledge and I am sure he will be an asset to us."
