Born January 16 1941 in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, Mike Everitt started his professional career with Arsenal in 1956, joining the Cobblers in 1961.
He made 207 appearances for Northampton Town and scored 15 goals until he left in 1967. He carried on playing with Brighton and Hove Albion and had two spells with Plymouth Argyle.
He was voted into the Cobblers 'Team of the Century'.
When he retired from playing he had management spells with Plymouth, Wimbledon and Brentford.
