The 19-year-old Benfica product made a positive debut in defeat for Cheltenham when their winless run was extended at Shrewsbury last Saturday.

Bancessi was always willing to run at the opposition defence and set up Town's opening goal in the 3-1 defeat.

He may be up against Northampton club captain Kelvin Langmead in the game after his return from injury, albeit as a substitute striker, against Burton Albion at Sixfields.

Speaking to BBC Radio Northampton, Langmead said: "I'm just happy to get out there, whatever role it is," he said.

"We've got some fantastic centre-halves, as we have strikers, so it's not easy to get into the team at all."
