Fans Respond To Northampton's Rise - Updated

Aidy Boothroyd had said going into the game that supporters at Sixfield would have a role to play in the season run-in and the club will have been pleased with the atmosphere generated by 4,885 home fans out of a gate of 5,110 on Saturday.

That figure boosts Town's season average to 4,403 which compares to 4,867 in 2011/12 but which will surely rise if Boothroyd's men stay in the promotion hunt.

The Cobblers now have two more tough away trips before they return home for the game against Plymouth Argyle on 23 February.

Chairman David Cardoza, speaking to the Chronicle & Echo about the progress being made by the club, said on Wednesday: "We’re averaging good numbers on the group tickets and more people are coming to watch us because of our home form - there should be some big attendances coming up, which are important to our cash flow."
