Davis told the official Oxford United website that his former side 'will be keen to impress their new manager and it gives the game an extra edge.'

That new manager is Aidy Boothroyd of course and his first couple of weeks in charge of the Cobblers have been given a big thumbs-up by all concerned.

"Certain things have changed since the new gaffer came in and you’ve felt a different buzz around the training ground," Ben Tozer told the Chronicle & Echo.

"Everyone is laughing and smiling every day and it’s so much better now."

Town will be looking to improve on a record of only 2 wins from 10 previous visits to Oxford.
