The new season also see's the Cobblers play a total of 3 games over the festive period. Christmas Day and New Years Day fall on a Wednesday this time and a tie in between versus the arch rivals Peterborough at London Road is in store. On Boxing Day we play Chesterfield at home, Saturday 28th December 2002 v Peterborough United, away and then a trip to relegated Barnsley on New Years Day.
The big home game with Peterbourough United is only 4 weeks after the away clash at London Road, with Northampton entertaining the Posh on Saturday 25th January 2003. There are no potential seaside trips as in previous years and the last game of the season will be played away to Mansfield Town on Saturday 3rd May 2003.
