Gray happy with opening day victory

Town are second in the table after the opening day trailing Hartlepool because of alphabetical order.

Stuart Gray was pleased to see a few goals after three consecutive blanks in the pre season games leading up to the League 2 opener.

Chris Doig, Akinfenwa (2 pens) and Leon Constantine scored the goals.

Gray said, "I think in the first half we looked a bit nervous until we got our first goal. After we got that goal though we really kicked on and I think we dominated the second half. We looked comfortable at the back after the first half an hour, I think we controlled the second half and we always looked like we were going to score more goals."

"Bayo had a very eventful afternoon," Gray continued, "he is a big player for us and the pleasing thing is that we got 75 minutes out of him when we'd only planned to get 45."

"Leon Constantine did well, I brought him to play alongside Bayo and although he was probably disappointed not to score one of his three one on ones, the pleasing thing was that he got himself into good position."

"It was important for us to hit the ground running and this win is a great start for us."
