High Interest in Northampton v Bristol Rovers Clash

Last updated : 07 April 2016 By County Ground

A win will secure Northampton Town’s place in League One next season and, with the new stand having opened for the first time last week, another big crowd will be in attendance.

But the match is also vital to Bristol Rovers after an excellent run of form that has seen them move into the automatic promotion places in their first season back in the Football League.

Rovers have decided to show the match live at their own ground and have sold out of tickets for the beam back.

The teams are meeting for the 91st time in total but their last encounter at Sixfields was important for totally different reasons as both teams were battling against the drop from League Two.

A goalless draw at the beginning of March 2014 looked to have suited Rovers better as it left them six points above Northampton, with the Cobblers in the final relegation place, but it was to be Chris Wilder’s side who pulled off a great escape in the weeks to come.
