Liverpool can wait with Shrews test next

Manager Ian Sampson will look to use the prospect of a starting place in the side for next week's game at Anfield to inspire the visitors to become the first to take three points off Shrewsbury at home this season.

Graham Turner's men suffered their first setback at Gillingham last weekend and the manager's post-match comments perhaps hinted at how the Cobblers could get a result on Saturday.

Turner told BBC Radio Shropshire: "We knew it was going to be difficult. I think we were bullied a little bit.

"We were outworked, we needed to stay in the game when they were putting us under pressure in the first 20 minutes and we conceded.

"We couldn't get our passing game going, they pressed us and on a tight pitch we couldn't get the movement and passing going."
