Manager's reaction to Town's defeat by Oldham

"It is disappointing. I can't fault the effort but we paid for lapses in concentration.

"We were always having to chase the game after giving them an early goal and from then on it was hard for us.

"All of the goals we gave away were bad goals. The players gave their all in terms of effort but we lacked concentration at times and they made us pay.

"Oldham are a good side, but I think we gave them too much respect - we shouldn't fear anyone here."

"This is our own patch and teams should not look forward to coming here, but in this game we didn't make Oldham earn their goals, whereas we had to earn ours."

John Sheridan

"It's a nice feeling to be second in the table and it gives us a lot of confidence," said Sheridan.

"We've only got a small squad, some of the players have played a lot of games, so we've done remarkably well.

"This is a massive result for us, the players showed great character. But they've been doing that all season, bouncing back from defeats.

"We knew it would be a hard game as Northampton have been excellent in their last few games. The only disappointment was the way we switched off after the first goal."
