Northampton boss takes a point

"The players showed a lot of character to get something from the game," said the Cobblers manager after seeing Kevin Thornton net a late penalty to secure a share of the spoils.

"It was an even contest and there was nothing between the two teams but we just can't seem to break our duck at the moment and get that first victory in the League.

"I'm sure Wycombe will be thereabouts at the end of the season but we kept plugging away and got our rewards in the end."

Opposite number Gary Waddock felt his side should have been out of sight before Thornton's equaliser.

"We got ourselves into a great position but when teams are only 1-0 down they always have the belief that they can get back into the game," he said.

A long trip to Hartlepool is next for Northampton this Tuesday for a Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie.
