Northampton Town v Bristol Rovers

Two sides towards the foot of the League Two table met at Sixfields on Saturday afternoon but both Northampton Town and Bristol Rovers went into the game in good spirits, the Cobblers having won twice on home soil in the past seven days and the Gas having followed up successive victories of their own with a late point at high-flying Scunthorpe United in midweek.

Team News: Gregor Robertson again started for the Cobblers in place of the injured Joe Widdowson while Alan Connell and Emile Sinclair were paired up front.

Midfielder Ollie Clarke replaced forward Alan Gow in the Rovers line-up.

1st Half: A tight opening 45 minutes ended goalless, Sinclair forcing a save from goalkeeper Mildenhall for the Cobblers best chance.

2nd Half: In front of a healthy crowd of 5,058, both sides pressed for the crucial opening goal with John Marquis replacing Sinclair in attack midway through the half for the hosts.

The breakthrough wouldn't come, however, and the final whistle blew on a fair result, one which caps a solid week for Northampton and keeps them in touch the teams above them at the foot of League Two.
