The Daggers come to Northampton on the back of a 2-0 victory at Cambridge United in midweek, the Johnstone's Paint Trophy victory being a first of the season for the East London club.
Manager Wayne Burnett, praised by opposite number and former team-mate Chris Wilder this week, told the BBC in the build-up to the weekend that he felt his new-look squad was slowly coming together.
"We have started to pick up a bit and look a bit more solid in our play. I feel we are getting there and are not too far away."
The Cobblers, meanwhile, also took confidence from their 3-2 success at home to Colchester United in the same competition.
