Northampton v Stockport. Match preview

Akinfenwa is the Cobblers' top scorer this season with nine goals from 19 starts but has missed the last four games through suspension after his sending-off at Brighton.

He will return to the starting line-up as manager Stuart Gray looks for a first home win since January.

Akinfenwa could be partnered by debutant Aleksandar Prijovic after the teenager arrived on loan from Derby and scored for the reserves on Wednesday evening. Leon Constantine has been allowed to join relegation rivals Cheltenham on a month-long loan deal.

On-loan Chelsea defender Carl Magnay went off during the 1-0 defeat at rivals Peterborough last weekend with a back injury and is a doubt.

Midfielder Ryan Gilligan will definitely miss out after having surgery on his knee injury.

Stockport boss Jim Gannon is desperately hoping that goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams will be available.

Fon Williams could require surgery on a shoulder injury and with reserve stopper Lloyd Rigby also out injured, Gannon could be left with just two untried youth team keepers.

The situation has been complicated after the club had a transfer embargo forced upon it by the Football League.

Money owed by the club to the Professional Footballers' Association is the reason for the embargo, meaning Gannon faces a serious dilemma if Fon Williams does not make it.

Defender Johnny Mullins could miss the rest of the season with a foot injury while midfielder Carl Baker (ankle) and striker Peter Thompson (collapsed lung) also remain absent for the Hatters.
