Manager Chris Wilder was delighted to secure the loan signing of midfielder Ryan Watson from Leicester City on a deal until January.

"He gets about the park, he is strong in the tackle and he can pass the ball well," was Wilder's verdict on the 20-year-old.

Alex Nicholls, meanwhile, will step up his recovery from injury with a one month loan spell at League Two rivals Exeter City. The striker trained with Exeter last week before being on the bench for Northampton as they defeated his new club at Sixfields on Saturday!

Nicholls told the official Grecians website: "It'll be good to get some minutes - and even better to get some goals."

Update - A permanent deal has been agreed that sees Fleetwood Town central defender Ryan Cresswell become a Cobbler.
