Released Striker Makes Nuneaton Impact

Moult was freed by the Cobblers at the end of last season and joined Nuneaton Town on a permanent deal after a loan spell with the Warwickshire club in 2012/13.

Aidy Boothroyd took a gamble on Moult in the summer of 2012 after his release by Stoke City where the striker had been a regular goalscorer at reserve and academy level.

He struggled to make a real impact at Sixfields but now, however, an excellent goalscoring start to the season has seen the player called up for the England C squad which takes on Latvia this week.

Staying with strikers, Town have extended a loan deal for Jacob Blyth of Leicester City while former star Bayo Akinfenwa has been defended by Gillingham boss Martin Allen after expressing his displeasure at being substituted early against Crawley at the weekend.

Allen told the Kent Messenger: “I don’t blame him. I wouldn’t have liked it had I been taken off after half an hour either. He was disappointed and that was understandable."

***Update*** The Cobblers have also agreed a deal with Pakistan international defender Kashif Siddiqi, a trialist with the club last season.

“We’ve given him a chance to train with the first team and he is very keen and he’s very enthusiastic so we will monitor his progress and see how he goes," Aidy Boothroyd told the official club website.
