Result tops special week - Sampson

Northampton boss Ian Sampson was delighted after seeing his side cap a memorable four days for the club, following up the Carling Cup success at Liverpool with victory over Bradford.

Billy Mckay opened the scoring in the 61st minute, before Ben Tozer wrapped things up nine minutes from time, much to the delight of Sampson.

"It's been a fantastic four days for the players, for me, the club and the supporters. I've been on a high for three days since the Liverpool game and it's really raised the profile of the club," said the Cobblers boss.

"I was delighted with the performance especially with all the hysteria following our victory on Wednesday night, and our display was one of the best for a long time. Bradford set up defensively but we have to be good enough to break teams down. We had to be patient but we've got the ball down and passed it and we got what we deserved in the end.

"I kept the same team that played at Liverpool and there was always a danger that some of the players would tire. But the players worked really hard, especially Billy McKay who had to work his socks off in the system we play. He's hitting a bit of form and he deserved his goal today."
