Sampson eyeing more additions

Northampton manager Ian Sampson believes he still has plenty more business to do in the transfer market before the start of the npower League Two campaign.

The Cobblers recently missed out on signing Leeds youngster Tom Elliott, who has since joined Rotherham on loan, but Sampson has a few "irons in the fire" as he continues to reshape his squad.

Former Coventry defender Marcus Hall has also been offered an extended trial as he looks to earn a contract at Sixfields.

"We are still looking to add to the squad," Sampson told the club's official website. "Tom Elliott decided he wanted to stay in Yorkshire so that was his decision.

"We are looking around and we have one or two irons in the fire. Marcus Hall is on an extended trial with us and that will remain the case for the next few games."

Elsewhere, young forward Alex Konstantinou, who was stretchered off in the 2-1 friendly win over Corby, is not expected to be out for too long with Sampson adding: "Alex will be out for a period but it is not has bad as it could have been. We will assess him as time goes on and I am sure he will be back soon."
