Sampson hopeful on new signings

Reflecting on his team's failure to see out the game for just a few more seconds and gain a vital three points, Northampton manager Ian Sampson was nevertheless upbeat about the response he got to the midweek JPT 'shambles'.

Attention now turns to next weekend's game against Southend United in which that elusive first win is the Cobblers' target, buoyed they hope by a bigger than usual crowd, lured by the prospect of tickets for the Liverpool tie.

And those fans could have a new face or two on show, with Sampson hoping to use a slice of the League Cup money to boost his attacking options.

"I hope to bring a striker or two in before the next game," he confirmed to the official club website.
