Accrington Stanley were brushed aside by four goals to nil at Sixfields to put Northampton firmly in the mix for a play-off place.
Billy McKay netted twice with Bayo Akinfenwa and Luke Guttridge also on the mark.
"Accrington can't have any complaints about the scoreline, we were excellent," Ian Sampson told BBC Radio Northampton afterwards.
