Slow Start For Cobblers As August Ends

Aidy Boothroyd has continually preached patience after his transfer dealings this summer and stressed the marathon nature of the campaign in the basement division.

His confidence can be backed up by Town's record last season when they also started slowly before a new year surge almost earned an automatic promotion spot.

Disappointed

Even so, the manager will be disappointed that his side appear once again to find winning games away from home very difficult after reverses at York, Southend and Bristol Rovers. All three of those fixtures also ended with Town reduced to ten men.

No side in League Two has won all of their opening five games and it remains a very difficult division to call.

Positions after ten games are always said to give a good indication of the season ahead so here's hoping the Cobblers are into the top-half of the table by then.
