The Cobblers Mad Northampton Town Predictor!

Last updated : 04 April 2015 By County Ground

Having battled back from two goals down at AFC Wimbledon on Good Friday, earning themselves a point that may yet prove invaluable in the race for a play-off place, Northampton Town have six games left of the regular 2014/15 season.

Currently on 57 points, 4 behind Plymouth Argyle in 7th place, here at Cobblers Mad we have looked at the run-in and tried to predict how the season will play out.

Easter Monday: Cambridge United are the visitors to Sixfields and need a result to keep them clear of the relegation zone. The U’s have been relatively solid away from home this season and will provide tough opposition but Northampton have enough in their armoury to gain a narrow HOME WIN.

Saturday 11 April: Away to a Stevenage side firmly in the hunt for a play-off place themselves. Graham Westley’s side have wobbled of late and are without a win in five ahead of Easter Monday’s games. That points to a DRAW in this one.

Tuesday 14 April: Oxford United are the hosts meaning a return to his former club for Chris Wilder and revenge will be on his mind after a 3-1 win for the U’s at Sixfields earlier in the campaign. Oxford have improved recently however and will battle for a DRAW in this one.

Saturday 18 April: The Cobblers host Cheltenham Town. This season has gone from bad to worse for the Robins and they sit at the foot of the table at the time of writing. Town will not want to waste the opportunity of three points from a HOME WIN.

Saturday 25 April: The penultimate game of the campaign is away to Burton Albion. Top of the table as this article is written, the Brewers will be disappointed if they haven’t secured an automatic promotion place by the time they host Northampton. That means there may be an air of relaxation around the Pirelli Stadium and the game will end in a DRAW.

Saturday 2 May: The curtain comes down with a home clash against Wycombe Wanderers. The Chairboys may need a result themselves as they hunt down automatic promotion so a tense final afternoon DRAW may be on the cards with ears pressed to the radio to find out the other scores.

So, we think that the Cobblers will go unbeaten between now and the end of the season, picking up 10 points from their 6 games and ending on 67 for the campaign. Let’s hope they can better that prediction and make it into the play-offs.
