Tottenham Keeper Backed By Boss

Signed from Tottenham Hotspur in August, Archer has kept the experienced Matt Duke out of the Cobblers side for much of the campaign.

That will change next weekend against Plymouth when a one-match suspension for Archer means Duke will start the League Two fixture against Plymouth Argyle at Sixfields.

Archer's ban is a result of his dismissal against Southend United last Saturday, the red card and subsequent penalty being the key moment in a tight game that swung the way of the hosts after that.

Wilder however told the official NTFC website: "Jordan has done extremely well and for a young goalkeeper the incident at Southend was his first real mistake in 15/20 games for us.

"Matt comes in now though, he’s an experienced goalkeeper and I’m sure he will be determined to keep the shirt and the battle between the two of them can only help and drive them on."
