Manager Chris Wilder is eagerly awaiting the clash with his former club and will be looking for his side to step up their pre-season preparations against a side expected to challenge for promotion from League One this season.

Nigel Clough took charge at Bramall Lane late last year and after a slow start engineered not only a revival in league fortunes but also a run to the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley where Premier League Hull City were given a scare.

And the Blades have been busy in the transfer market already this summer, adding defenders Harrison McGahey from Blackpool and ex-Peterborough man Craig Alcock to their squad this week, adding to the earlier captures of James Wallace from Tranmere and striker Marc McNulty among others.

If purchased before 5pm on Monday, under-18 tickets are just £1 for the game.

Cobblers Mad has records of Northampton's games against all their previous opponents, from Aberdare Athletic to York City.
