Speaking to the official TRFC website ahead of Saturday's important League Two clash at Sixfields and with his side in the relegation zone, Adams said: "Chris Wilder came here just before the new year, he lost against us and I think that was five or six defeats on the spin and he was down in the mouth like I was last Saturday.
"But he and his team have responded and they have gone on a fantastic run and they're on the verge of the play-offs now, so that's what can be achieved."
Northampton, meanwhile, have signed former Glasgow Rangers defender Ross Perry on a deal until the end of the season.
The 25-year-old has worked with Chris Wilder before, at Oxford, and will be looking to earn a longer contract at Sixfields over the next few months.
