Mark Hughes and Kenny Deuchar joined the Cobblers.

"It was a busy day with both Mark Hughes and Kenny Deuchar joining us and I think they will be 2 good acquisitions," Gray told www.ntfc.co.uk.

"I knew Mark Hughes from my days at Wolves. He is very similar to Luke Chambers but at the level he has been at his chances have been limited. He is a very honest defender and a very solid player.

"Kenny is another player I know from my time at Wolves. We were very close to making a move for him when we wanted a big striker and in the end it was a tough call but we plumped for Carl Cort. People only have to look at Kenny's goal record to see the potential he has. It might be at a lower level but you can only score against who you are playing and I know that if we get the ball in the box for him he will score goals for us.

"They are different types of players to the ones who have left. I feel we need a target man to work off at this level and Kenny will score goals and create space for others. Mark is a more aggressive player than Luke and I think both will do well for us.

"When you make a signing you are always hoping they come off and you are talking about potential but I am very happy with the business we have done and both will be in the squad for Saturday."
