The Chronicle & Echo believes that former loanee Ben Tozer will return to Sixfields on a permanent basis and will be joined by midfielder Paul Turnbull, impressive for Stockport County last season despite the Hatters' relegation from the Football League.

Plymouth-born Tozer made 31 appearances for Northampton in 2010/11 on loan from Newcastle United. The Magpies had snapped him up as a 17-year-old in the January 2008 transfer window with the player saying at the time: "It's a brilliant feeling, it really is a dream come true and it hasn't quite sunk in yet."

That move may not have worked out as hoped but Tozer will be a mainstay of the Cobblers side next season as they look to launch a promotion bid.

Stockport skipper Turnbull has spent his entire professional career to date at Edgley Park and has been offered a new contract to stay with the club.

***Update***With Turnbull's move now in the balance Northampton may turn their attentions to Arron Davies of Peterborough United.

He became the youngest debutant ever at Stockport when he made his debut against Wrexham at just 16 years and 97 days.
