We must start better - Beckwith

Northampton Town defender Dean Beckwith says that they must start matches better, after shipping early goals in each of their last three games. The Cobblers conceded within 10 minutes of the kick-off at Barnet and Rotherham and again in Saturday's 3-2 FA Cup exit at Hillsborough to Sheffield Wednesday.

"We started off sloppily," Beckwith told BBC Radio Northampton. "We can't keep giving ourselves challenges.

"We got back in it, and at Rotherham too, but it was too big a mountain."

Beckwith says that the players should take confidence from their second-half performance against the Owls, despite Saturday's defeat.

"It was all us putting the pressure on them," he said.

"We've got to take that into the league and start dominating teams in our own division."

Northampton, 22nd in League Two, now take on relegation rivals Stockport County at Sixfields this Saturday (4 December, 1500 BST)

"We've had three away games this week," said Beckwith. "And we'll have this week to recover. Stockport is a massive game."
