Two brilliant goals from Jamie Forrester and a stunning lob from Marco Gabbiadini won the game for Town ending Luton's seven match unbeaten run. The Cobblers upset the the form books following four straight league defeats, totally dominating the game from start to finish.

It was to be no happy return for ex-Cobbler steve Howard, as his former stike partner, Forrester opened the scoring in the 9th minute. Paul Harsley drove through the midfield, played the ball out to Forrester on the left, he took one touch and beat Berthelin from 12 yards.

The lead was doubled ten minutes later following a brilliant move, Derek Asamoah beat three Luton players before flicking the ball outside to Marco Gabbiadini. The Cobblers top scorer played a first time cross into the six yard area which was slid home by Forrester for his second of the game.

Tony Thorpe then had a goal ruled out for offside but the whistle had long gone before he beat Lee Harper. The Cobblers keeper was forced to save from the same player moments later after Howard's flick on.

Asamoah shot just wide from 20 yards on 32 minutes and Town came in with a cofortable 2-0 half time lead.

Five minutes into the second half Marco Gabbiadini made it 3-0, he raced onto Jamie Forrester's through ball, before delicately chipping over keeper Berthelin from 35 yards.

Town looked very likely to add to the tally before the end, Gabbadini shot wide from just inside the area and Berthelin saved well from Forrester. Harper had to make a double save at the other end late on.

NTFConline Man of the Match - Marco Gabbiadini, stunning perfomance and some lovely touches.

Ref Watch - Paul Durkin got most decisions right but it was a mystery how there was no bookings in the game, considering some of the challanges flying in.
