With 22 minutes gone, ex Boston striker Andy Kirk got the show rolling for the Town after keeper Nathan Abbey had parried a Pedj Bojic shot into his path. Boston drew level with 5 minutes of the first half remaining, Alan White netting with a glancing header from a free kick. The Cobblers then took the lead again on the stroke of halftime, Ian Taylor heading home his debut goal from a David Hunt long throw.

The second period saw Boston have a lot more possession with the Town defending far to deep for a number of fans liking. With 7 minutes remaining Jason Crowe turned the Boston defence and dispatched a shot past Abbey to make it 3 - 1. This gave Boston the excuse to push forward and within 3 minutes they had pulled back a goal, Ian Ross with a low drive past Harper in the Town goal. This lead to a frantic 4 minute onslought from Boston, but Town held out for their second win of the Bank Holiday weekend.
