Taylor has made more than 550 appearances since starting his career at Port Vale in 1992. He scored seven goals for Northampton last season as they won promotion to Coca-Cola League One.
Stuart Gray, the Northampton manager, said: "He will not be involved in our final game of the season so we would ask all who wish to pay tribute to Ian to come along to Sixfields."
