Title favourites next for 'work in progress' Cobblers

Expressing himself to be cautiously pleased with a point and clean sheet from Saturday's opener against Rochdale, manager Aidy Boothroyd knows there is plenty of work still to do to turn his side into promotion contenders.

“I don’t want to be part of a team that concedes lots of goals," he said after the goalless draw at Spotland.

"I want us to be tight at the back and organised.

“We could do better with the ball and in terms of out decision-making but I would have taken a point before the game so I’m happy with one now.”

Boothroyd's desire for his side to be solid defensively will be tested to the full on Tuesday night against a Rotherham side who entered the season as title favourites and justified that tag with a comfortable home win against Burton Albion at their brand-new New York Stadium.
